Susan Rooney - Owner/Lead Trainer
Susan has 20+ years experience in animal behavior to include horses, dogs, cats, parrots, and most farm stock. She participated in FFA and AKC's Junior handler program and like most animal lovers, it all started with a household full of various pets. Her talent with horses showed early on when she began riding at the age of 4, leading her to an early career goal. Over the next 15 years she was fortunate to train under and along side some of the best riders in the United States and Europe. Although competing and showmanship was always important, Susan's main goal has always been to focus on understanding the animal she's working with.
Looking to expand her knowledge and experience, Susan then ventured into shelter work and animal welfare. Working within a shelter environment provided a vast amount of experience in not only welfare issues but a first hand look at the affects of an unstable world on animals and their behavior. She gained invaluable experience in kennel care, behavior assessment, client counseling, how to safely handle/manage and recondition the behavior of animals, housing/environmental management and was exposed to a wide array of different species, breeds, and temperaments. During this time she also began assisting and teaching obedience classes along with taking private clients. She remained in the animal welfare field for 8 years and then moved on to training Service Dogs and has since expanded into the working and sport dog arenas. Currently, she trains and trials in French Ring Sport with her Malinois' and spends her extra time working with her Parrots and her Mustang, Lincoln.
